while working with a Global organization I handled over 25 teams with an average Head count of 30 associates i.e, ~750 associates in total. In almost all teams, I came across 3-5 associates who would want to leave Jobs either they had found better opportunities or started feeling bored at work despite performing really good at Job as well. I would take one on one connect with them to understand what triggered the thought of leaving Job. In the beginning my approach was based on convincing them using points like salary, company environment, Job security, Flexibility etc. But, they were not as effective as I thought.
After doing the analysis on first 10 associates who raised the concern of leaving the Jobs, I found they were all not doing anything new besides doing their regular Jobs. They would go Home, enjoy, sleep, party and again come back to job. Our body needs nutrition to work properly, similarly, our mind needs a repairing on regular intervals. This repairing comes from new skills, learning, challenges.
I started with Teaching excel to them, because Analysis skill was required from the next role which was Team Leader . I thought them few advance excel skills then added coding skills as well. I made things exciting for them, they started seeing the importance of these tools like Excel, Coding, Starting a new business. I observed them for 1 month later. I was surprised to see the change in those associates.
They started putting their best in jobs again not because they again found the Love for it but, they had something of their own now, which would help them grow in their Life, personal or professional. From those 10 associates, I didn't stop and started implementing it with new associates as well. The success rate was 70%. in SCRUM Attrition method, model alone doesn't bring a change.

It needs to be handled with a lot of empathy and seriousness. It requires a manager to have a strong interpersonal connection with their direct reports. Managers should know their Likes and dislikes.
Managers need to keep a continuous check on their probable attrition cases. Managers Attention is a key in this method. Whenever I would have a word with exit cases, I would draw them a graph which I shown below. I would explain them in the following manner: Its a relation between Excitement and Time which they have spent with the Organization. On Y-axis we have Excitement and, Time on x-axis.
When an employee starts a Job, their excitement level is always at peak. With time, we see the decline in this excitement level. We can also say, employee don't see fun in their Job they do. It becomes monotonous for them. At later stage, they put down the papers. Here, SCRUM Method could be implemented by Managers, if they connect with exit cases employees at right time with right tools of ]
Their Interests then they can avoid an Absolute attrition case. '+' (Plus sign) on the decline curve, shows that if a manager or employee as well, can add a new skill in them which they can pursue with excitement, then exit cases employee would find a whole new meaning in other related activates of the day, Job is one of them. Employee would again feel a change at work but managers can't drop all the guards here after so easily. Because, a thought of leaving the Job has been implanted in employee's mind, which won't leave this easy. Managers have to be in touch with the employee and note the changes. Regular connects can be effective method of recording such progress.
